Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026. Draft — review with a qualified professional before launch.

Dear Shamica (“we,” “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect through dearshamica.com, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

  • Letters to Dear Shamica. Your letter, the name you sign it with, the topic you choose and, if you give it, your email. If you ask anonymously, we do not store your name or your IP address.
  • Coaching, speaking and contact requests. Your name, email, optional phone number and the details you share so we can respond.
  • Newsletter. Your email and, optionally, your first name.
  • Basic technical data. Like most websites, our servers may log standard information such as browser type and pages visited.

How we use it

  • To read and respond to your letter, and, only as described on the form, to publish selected letters anonymously under the name you signed.
  • To respond to coaching, speaking and collaboration inquiries.
  • To send the newsletter you signed up for. You can unsubscribe at any time.

We do not sell your personal information.

Published letters

Letters chosen for a public response are edited for length and clarity, and identifying details are removed. Only the sign-off you chose is published. If you’d like a published letter removed, contact us and we’ll take it down.

Third-party services

This site loads fonts from Google Fonts and embeds videos from YouTube, which may set their own cookies when you play a video. Links to social networks take you to sites with their own privacy policies.

Your choices

You can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information you’ve given us by emailing dearshamica@aol.com.

Children

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
